Suspected stolen Ford Mondeo seized in Crossways Boulevard, Dartford after driver's fingerprints scanned

A suspected stolen car was seized by police after a driver's fingerprints were scanned and found not to be a match with the owner.

Constables were completing a proactive patrol of the Crossways Boulevard area near Stone when they noticed a black Ford Mondeo travelling without its headlights on.

The vehicle was pulled over at around 11.30pm on Tuesday and checks carried out at the scene revealed the registered owner lived in Berkshire.

Officers scanned the driver’s fingerprints which confirmed he was not the registered keeper.

A 23-year-old, from Greenhithe was detained on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, possessing a Class B drug and driving without a licence or insurance. Police also seized a small quantity of cannabis.

The suspect has since been released from custody while inquiries, which include efforts to locate the owner of the car, continue.
