Traffic on A282 Dartford Crossing after multi-car crash

All lanes are now open but huge congestion remains on one of the busiest motorways in Kent following a multi-vehicle crash.

Highways chiefs say drivers should allow an additional 50 minutes for their journeys in the wake of the incident on the southbound carriageway of Dartford Bridge this morning.

The route has been cleared by emergency services, but there remains six miles of slow-moving traffic.

A National Highways spokesman said: "There are long delays on the approach to the lane closures on the A282 Queen Elizabeth II Bridge.

"Approximately six miles of slow traffic remains on the approach back towards Junction 29 of the M25.

"There are 50-minute delays."

Essex Police attended the scene at 7.20am.

It is understood no injuries were reported.
