Tributes to pensioner Brenda Bain who died in crash near Farningham

Tributes have been paid to "one of life's characters" after she died in a car crash last week.

Brenda Bain, 78, died in hospital after her blue Toyota Yaris left the carriageway of the A20 at Gorse Hill, near Farningham.

Her family said in a statement: "Brenda led an active and independent life, despite the loss of her husband more than 20 years ago. Brenda was one of life’s characters and enjoyed her holidays. She loved history, visiting historic places and the countryside.

"Brenda lived life to the full and had energy beyond her years. She regularly attended local churches and clubs in West Kingsdown, where she lived for nearly 40 years.

"Brenda was a kind and generous mother and grandmother. For her to be taken from us so suddenly is a shock to all that knew her. The family will sadly miss her along with her many friends in the village and others further afield."

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision, which happened at around 11.35am on Wednesday.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage of the Toyota Yaris during or prior to the collision is asked to call the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference DK/SM/113/18.
