Two men killed in crash on A20 in Swanley

Two men who had come to help the driver of an overturned car were killed in a collision which closed the A20 for more than 12 hours.

The victims, aged 25 and 54, were fatally injured when they were struck by silver Mercedes as they tried to aid a motorist in an overturned silver Vauxhall Astra.

Seven vehicles were involved in a collision on the London-bound carriageway near Swanley at about 11am yesterday, leaving a further six people injured.

The air ambulance was called to the scene.

The A20 only reopened late last night after police had spent more than half a day investigating the scene, having also closed the A20 coastbound for several hours.

Police are appealing for witnesses or for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

They are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit witness appeal line on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk
