Car fire outside Matalan in Hythe Road, Dartford

A car burst into flames in Dartford this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Hythe Street at about 2.50pm after the vehicle caught fire outside Matalan.

No one is thought to have been injured.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We were called to Hythe Street, Dartford at 2.49pm to reports of a car on fire.

"One appliance from Dartford is at the scene using a hose reel jet and foam."

The blaze has now been extinguished.

A police spokesman added: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service called Kent Police at 3.05pm on Monday 9 May for assistance in controlling traffic to allow the fire service to deal with a vehicle fire in Hythe Street, Dartford."

Emergency services have now left the scene.
