Driver airlifted to hospital after crashing her car into bollard at Bluewater

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after crashing her vehicle into a bollard at Bluewater.

The emergency services, including the Kent Air Ambulance, were called to the crash scene in a car park at the centre shortly before 9am.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and it is understood the woman suffered a leg injury.

Spokesman for police James Walker said: "We were called to a single vehicle collision in a car park at the Bluewater shopping centre at 8.52am.

"The car was reported to have been involved in a collision with a bollard and officers attended the location alongside crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

"A woman, who was reported to have been driving the car, was airlifted to a London hospital and patrols left the scene shortly after 10.40am."

Rich Airey spokesman for the ambulance service added: "Crews attended along with the air ambulance service following reports a car had struck a post.

"The patient was assessed and treated for injuries including a leg injury before being airlifted to Kings College Hospital."
