Dowson watched the game and was impressed with what he saw from Connor Dymond’s side.

After trailing against Ascot, defender Georgie Davis levelled things up with a fantastic free-kick in the 34th minute before another free-kick - this time from midfielder Shauni Griffiths - found the net after the restart.

However Ascot then equalised to take the tie to penalty kicks where goalkeeper Jade Charlton was the hero for the Darts.

The victory earned them £6,000 in prize money, with a further £8,000 up for grabs in the next round.

Dowson said: “They have done a great job.

“I just went to support them on Sunday, I’m kind of like a mascot!

"But we are very proud of them.

“I have watched their last three FA Cup games and they have done very well.”

Dartford Women, of the London & South East Premier Division, will be at home to Hashtag United Women in the next round having also already knocked out Woking and Islington Borough with 5-0 and 4-0 victories, respectively.

Their next tie is due to be played on Sunday, November 27.
