Callum Driver has left Dartford to sign for their Kent rivals Maidstone United.

The defender made 22 league appearances for the Darts last season and ended the campaign as their first-choice right-back after Lee Burns left to work overseas.

Driver, 22, who came through West Ham's youth system, was released by the Hammers a year ago and started the 2014/15 season at Whitehawk.

He's now set to return to Princes Park in Stones colours when the two clubs meet in Vanarama National League South next season.

Maidstone boss Jay Saunders told the club's website: "Right-back is a position we've been looking at. At the end of the season we had a list of targets and he was one of them so it's good that we've managed to get him on board.

"Callum's a good age and I think he needs to settle at a club for a good season, get a good load of games under his belt and I'm sure he'll get better for that."

Driver said: "I've been speaking to Jay recently, we've discussed terms and I'm happy to finally sign.

"I played a lot of games (at Dartford). It was a good experience playing at that level and we played some good sides so I've taken a lot from last season.

"Hopefully I can use that to progress this season with Maidstone."
