Dartford winger Jack Simmons happy with home debut against Eastbourne Borough in Vanarama National League South

Lively winger Jack Simmons was thrilled to play his part in Dartford’s first win of the season.

Simmons, a summer signing from Canvey Island, delivered an inch-perfect left-wing cross for Tom Bradbrook to nod in what proved to be the winner against Eastbourne Borough on Tuesday night.

It capped an impressive home debut for Simmons, one of four new faces in the starting line-up for Darts.

“It’s great for the team to get a goal but I was delighted to have a part in it,” said Simmons.

“I was more excited than nervous. We didn’t have a pre-season friendly at Princes Park so for me and a lot of the other new boys it was the first time that we’d played a competitive game on it.

“It was great coming out and playing in front of the fans and I really enjoyed it.

“It’s been a good start, the most important thing is that we got the three points and are off the mark now. But it’s only one game so we’ll build again and get ready for the weekend."
