Kent Young Athletes League round-up at Central Park, Dartford

Central Park hosted the latest round of the Kent Young Athletes League on Saturday.

Medway & Maidstone AC under-15 boys claimed victory to move closer to overall leaders Blackheath & Bromley in Division 1.

Cameron Isaac won a thrilling 100m race at the Dartford venue, just pipping Cambridge Harriers’ Daniel Nyong to first place, both clocking 12.0 secs.

Nyong took victory in the 200m event in 24.5 secs ahead of B&B’s Lawrence Goslin (24.7) while Isaac had to settle for third in 25.3.

Riley Maisey secured the 800m win for another M&M first place but there was a win for B&B’s Andrew Nikoro in the 80m hurdles as well as the shot.

Penny Horne (Tonbridge AC) won the 2,000m walk while the high jump win went to Thomas Walwyn (Bexley), the long jump was won by B&B’s Zuriel Nwogwugwu, Evan Zell-Smith took the discus victory and Max Thorne threw an impressive 44.81m to win in the hammer.

In the Division 1 under-15 girls, Blackheath & Bromley came out on top.

Harriet Medlen (Tonbridge AC/Judd School) took the 100m and 200m win. Blackheath & Bromley’s Tallulah Ndikanwu won the 800m event while Tonbridge AC’s Elicia Lacey was winner of the 75m hurdles race.

Victorious in the high jump was Megan Barlow (B&B), the long jump went to Sybil Wirrom-Jorrie (B&B). Bexley AC’s Eleanor Russell comfortably won the hammer event, clinched victory with the shot put and also the javelin.

Blackheath & Bromley AC won the Division 1 under-13 boys event and sit top of the overall table. Medway & Maidstone came second on the day and are also second overall. Tonbridge AC/Judd School took third at Dartford.

Bukunmi Edun of Medway & Maidstone AC clinched the under-13 100m A string win with a time of 13.6 secs - narrowly beating Tonbridge AC’s Will Horner and Blkackheath & Bromley’s Theodore Osobu.

Tom Ravenscroft, who was fourth in the 100m, took the 200m win in a time of 28.9 secs, ahead of Jamie Ellerton (Blackheath & Bromley) and Alfred Everitt (Paddock Wood/Folkestone RC).

In the under-13 800m A, Joseph Scanes crossed the line first (B&B, 2:19:2) ahead of Joshua Wellings (Cambridge Harriers) and Reuben Sarakbi (M&M).

Jamie Ellerton (B&B) won the 75m hurdles ahead of Tonbridge AC’s Harry Wrigley and Theo Hood (Tonbridge AC/Judd School). 100m winner Edun was fourth. Hood topped the B-string long jump event with 3.76m.

Ellerton was also winner of the long jump event with 4.22m.

The 1,000m walk was won by Peter Fitzmaurice (Tonbridge AC/Judd School).

Aidan Svendsen was the high jump victor with 1.2m while Michael Bridge (Cambridge H) took the shot event title in 10.62m.

Blackheath & Bromley AC athletes boasted wins in the discus, as Lorne Burnett threw 22.44m, and javelin with a throw of 30.01m from Charlie Platt. The club were also 4x100m relay winners.

Division 1 under-13 girls winners were Blackheath & Bromley, finishing ahead of Paddock Wood/Folkestone RC and Medway & Maidstone.

Emily Cadman (Cambridge H) ruled supreme in the sprints, with victory in the 100m and 200m. Jasmine Mark (M&M) took second place in both.

Naimah Mossi (B&B) was winner of the 800m ahead of Medway & Maidstone’s Rose Crossley. In the 70m hurdles Charlotte Bloodworth beat Tofunmi Edun.

Bloodworth was also second placed in the shot (behind Ethel Olaigbe) and winner in the javelin. Olaigbe was second.

Elsa Pawson (Tonbridge AC) won the high jump event and finished second in the long jump. Runner up in the high jump, Emilia Adese (B&B), won the long jump.

In the under-13 boys Division 2 there was success for Swale Combined AC, finishing ahead of Dartford Harriers and Blackheath & Bromley AC 2nds.

Blake Gates, on his debut for the Swale club, winning the A discus and the javelin. He also finished second in the shot.

Dartford Harriers’ Noah Efevberha won the shot event - he was also second in the 100m - while club-mate Ethan Harris won in the high jump. Invicta East Kent’s Luke Martin claimed victory in the 200m.

Dartford Harriers came out on top in the under-15 boys Division 2 event and also the under-13 girls.

Invicta East Kent’s Joshua Thomas-Wright took 100m and 200m wins while there was a win in the 80m hurdles for Dartford Harriers’ Michael Ijeh. He was also winner of the long jump.

Debare Alade won the shot and discus while fellow Dartford Harrier Brandon Nathan took victory in the hammer. Maya Esope (Dartford H) won the shot and hammer event.

Chikamso Ugoji (Dartford Harriers) won the u-13 75m ahead of Hope Elliott (Thanet), who also came second in the 800m. Ismae Abomeli (Thanet) won in the 150m and also the long jump.

Emilia Stevens with the stand out performer for Swale Combined AC, with a club record in the 800m and back-to-back wins in the sprint hurdles this season with a 70m PB. She also took third in long jump.

Thanet AC won the under-15 Division 2 girls second with Poppy Rowland-Hill running home to win in the 200m for the club. Her throw of 9.93m in the shot also won her an event in the field.

Dartford Harrier Zara Okoroafor took the 100m win.

Thanet AC also saw wins from Eve Seert in the high jump (1.4m) and long jump (4.88m) as well as in the 75m hurdles, through Lily-Ann Showers.

Amelia Lawton (Invicta East Kent) was runner-up to Rowland-Hill in the shot but claimed victory with her hammer throw and also won with a 24.36m throw in the javelin.
