All the latest from Crayford Greyhound Track

Pony Bride was a winner for column followers during the week.

While his price was only 4/5 fav, he looked a good thing and won easily over 714 metres and as a dog that finished third in this year’s £15,000 Ladbrokes Golden Jacket here in February, he will always run a big race here at his home track.

Six puppies go to traps on Saturday night racing for a £500 winner’s prize in the Owners Bonus final over 380m.

There were some decent times recorded in the two semi-finals last weekend and I am sure that this final will produce at least a couple of future stars at Crayford.
In the first semi, Another Dilemma came home in 24.00secs, beating Dolls Elisha by just a head.

The latter incurred first corner bumping and crowding so you would have to think that Dolls Elisha would probably have won the race with a clearer run.

This was only Dilemma’s fourth career race and Elisha’s second and with youngsters, you never quite know how much improvement to expect next time, although they do learn quickly.

Nemos Rain followed the pair home to qualify and started at the shortest price of the three.

However, she had all sorts of traffic problems but with 16 races already on her card, she could still be a big player in the final with a clear run.

The second semi-final went to Clerihan Blackie in a decent time of 23.75 and he was followed home by Mad Mash Rumble who registered 23.89 – a length and a half adrift.

This pair started the race as 2-1 jt favs so the bookies seem to have got the race correct.

Woodsgift Rumble snatched the third qualifying place but was over four lengths behind the duo at the line.

This was Clerihan Blackie’s first win and by far his quickest time. The reason being that he led away from the traps while usually he is slow away but it does show what he is capable of with a fast exit.

This is a difficult final to call but I will side with Dolls Elisha who I think has much more to show yet pace wise and should get a clear run from trap six.
