Police appeal after thug steals victim's bowler hat in Deal High Street assault

Police are appealing for witnesses to a New Year’s Day assault in Deal which saw the culprit also get away with the victim’s bowler hat.

The incident happened between 3am and 4am on Monday, January 1, when the man in his 20s was walking with another man from South Street into High Street towards Broad Street.

He was set upon by a man who had been walking in the same direction with another group.

The suspect and two other people then left the scene.

The victim received bruising and an eye injury which required hospital treatment and his bowler hat was also reported stolen during the incident.

The suspect is described as 6ft tall, with a slim build and aged in his late 20s.

He had dark hair and was wearing a white shirt and dark trousers.
