Car vandalism spree: Police arrest 27-year-old after up to 35 cars damaged in Deal

A 27-year-old man has been arrested after reports up to 35 cars were damaged.

The man who has no fixed address was taken into custody yesterday afternoon, where he remains.

He was also arrested on suspicion of burglary after officers from Dover Community Policing Team (CPT) were called to commercial premises in the town's Beach Street.

It was reported a door at the property had been damaged and cigarettes were stolen.

Officers have confirmed that up to 35 reports of criminal damage to cars in Deal have so far been reported and inquires are ongoing.

The alleged incidents are believed to have taken place overnight on Monday and again overnight on Wednesday, this week.

All reports suggested the paintwork of the cars had been scratched.

Sergeant Simon Drew from Dover CPT said: "We have carried out inquiries around the streets where we believe the cars have been damaged to identify further victims.
