Body is found at Wellington Parade, Kingsdown

A pensioner was found dead at a Kent beach this morning.

Officers were called to Wellington Parade in Kingsdown, near Deal, at 8.30am after a body was discovered.

The woman, understood to be in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, police say.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a report that a body had been seen near Wellington Parade, Kingsdown at 8.30am on Monday, November 22.

"Officers attended and a woman from the local area was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner."

A staff member from The Zetland Arms in Wellington Parade confirmed the incident happened close to the pub.

She told KentOnline she believed the woman was a swimmer.
