Efit of Deal burglar who claimed to be checking water supply at two homes

Police have released an efit in the hunt for a burglar who told the homeowner he had come to check their water supply.

The incident took place during the daytime on Thursday, June 27 when the man visited a house in Dola Avenue in Deal.

A quantity of cash was reported stolen.

Officers think the man tried to strike again a week later.

He visited a property in Pilots Avenue at 4pm on Thursday, July 4 and again asked to check the water supply.

It was only when the victim asked for proof of identification that the man left. Nothing was stolen.

Police are reminding residents to be vigilant, look out for their neighbours and be aware of thieves who use distraction techniques to carry out crime.

Keep doors and windows locked, and do not let strangers into your home unless you can confirm their identity.
