Extra Southern Water staff in place at Golf Road treatment works and Albert Road, Deal, in case of flooding

Southern Water says extra staff will be in place to deal with any flooding in Deal overnight.

This comes as the Met Office has forecast heavy rain across Kent tonight (Wednesday).

Albert Road in Deal has flooded notoriously bad during bouts of wet weather and has been a source of concern for many residents for some time.

The Met Office this morning upgraded the severity of the warning from yellow - meaning be aware - to amber - be prepared.

Heavy and thundery showers are expected to drench the county and the rest of the south east from this evening, throughout tomorrow and into Friday.
