Coronavirus Kent: Parking costs cut in the Dover, Deal and Sandwich to ease Covid-19's hit to the economy

Free parking has been announced for Dover District Council's car parks.

It means no tickets are needed for on-street bays and council-owned car parks in Dover, Deal and Sandwich.

A statement, published on the authority's website said: "Parking enforcement is suspended apart from disabled bays, bus stands, single and double yellow lines, zig zags on crossings and outside those schools still open.

"Resident and business permit holders can use the car parks at anytime."

Deal car parks include: Middle Street, Union Road, West Street (formerly St George's), Beach Street, Town Hall, Stanhope Road, South Street, Walmer Castle, Deal Castle, Tides, Victoria Park, On Street: Beach Street, Victoria Road, Stanhope Road,, King Street, Prince of Wales Terrace.

Dover car parks: Albany Place, Bench Street, Camden Crescent, Ladywell, Maison Diew Road, Norman Street, Pencester Road, Stembrook, Samphire Hoe, Townwall Street, Woolcomber Street, On-street: Seafront, Pencester Road, Castle Street.

Sandwich car parks: The Quay, Guildhall, Gaze Salts, On Street: Market Street, New Street

Yesterday, Deal's main car park was almost empty with a small scattering of cars while the High Street was like a ghost town.
