It took two hours and multiple specialist vehicles, pictured, to lift the horse to safety.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Two fire engines were sent to the field where the horse was trapped in the muddy water, as well as the animal rescue unit, technical rescue unit and water safety unit.

"Using strops, mud paths and a Telehandler, crews were able to lift the horse onto dry land and back into the care of its owner."
