Frog and Scot restaurant in Deal High Street set to close with opening date announced for revamped sister spot Le Pinardier

The team behind a much-loved restaurant are saying au revoir — but only temporarily — with expansion plans for their sister venue already underway.

Frog and Scot in Deal High Street will be hosting its final customers next month after nearly a decade in the town.

The site was opened by Benoit Dezecot and his wife, Sarah, after they found success with small tasting events with local producers at their wine shop, Le Pinardier, just a few doors down.

Often recognised as one of the seaside town’s top eateries, the pair took to social media to reflect on their time in Deal.

“Of course, Frog and Scot is a business, but for us it is a place where we have raised our four children and celebrated life’s big moments - it’s been a huge part of our lives for so long.

“Our little bistro has brought us so much joy over the last decade, and we will be leaving with so many incredible memories, but we feel now is the right time to follow new dreams.

“We are eternally grateful to the many staff who have joined our team and grown alongside us over the years.

“Many of them have stayed with us through university, travelling, marriage and starting a family - some have even opened their own restaurants. It’s been a privilege to be a part of their journeys.

“We would like to thank each and every one of the customers who have visited us time and time again over the last 10 years.

“We couldn’t have done it without your support and encouragement, and feel incredibly lucky that so many of our wonderful customers have now become friends for life.”

Punters took to social media to express their sadness at the announcement.

One commented: “We are just so sad to see this… Frog and Scot holds so many great family moments, we have all grown in Deal with you being there.

“You raised the bar in every way, sending you all our love.”

Another added: “Our favourite people/staff/family and favourite restaurant. So many wonderful memories.”

Last month, Mr and Mrs Dezecot confirmed work was underway at Frog and Scot’s sister venue, Le Pinardier.

The wine bar and bottle shop will be expanding, merging with the vacant unit next door and bringing them back together.

The two units were previously one and served the town as Stuart Dunn’s Chemists in the 1800s.

It’s since been revealed that the grand opening is scheduled for early 2026.

In a statement, the duo added: “Thankfully, this is not au revoir, but more a bientot, as we are not moving far.

“As many of you already know, we are expanding our little wine bar - just a few doors up from Frog and Scot.

“There is lots of work to do in there as we build the rear extension and open up between the two shops, and we aim to be open in early 2026.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it all possible, and we are so excited for the next chapter and welcoming you all into the new and improved Le Pinardier.”

November 16 will be the last service at Frog and Scot, however, the site remains on the market.

Currently it is listed by agents Goodwins Business Brokers Ltd for £120,000 - an £80,000 drop after the business was put up for sale earlier this year.
