Lucas Dobson: Plans to 'flood the coast with red' as more vigils held in Deal and Margate for boy who fell into River Stour

Memorial events will take place along the coast tonight to honour Lucas Dobson.

The people of Deal are expected to turn out along The Pier for a second vigil this week, in a show of support to the six-year-old's family.

There will also be an event at New King's Stairs in Margate, at the same time, from 6.30pm until 9.30pm.

Lucas' aunty Maciee Stanford had said that family representatives will join the vigils.

Michael Brooks has shared the information on the 'In Loving Memory of Lucas' Facebook page.

He writes: "Let's flood these places with red.

"Candles, petals and bubbles, all welcome, or if you have red lights [bring them] too.

"Let's show our love for the family."

The Warden House Primary pupil fell into the River Stour in Sandwich while fishing with his dad Nathan Dobson on Saturday.

Mr Dobson and two other adults jumped in to rescue him but Lucas was swept away by the strong current.

Hundreds of volunteers joined the search for the boy with towns around the county holding vigils on Monday night.

The six-year-old was recovered from the water five days later on Wednesday.

The following day, his mum Kirsty Furze thanked all volunteers who gave up their time to help.

She said: "I just want to thank each and every one of you.

"I'm so thankful for donations and the food and being out all hours searching for my baby and for the police and rescue and search team.

"I cannot believe how much my baby has touched all your hearts.

"He was such a beautiful boy. Lucas is looking down on everyone saying thank you in his own way,

"Lucas will never ever be forgotten. I'm so overwhelmed with the support I have had and so is Lucas' dad.

"I really don't know how else I could show my appreciation to you all."
