Air ambulance called after 'fallen masonry' incident at Southwall Industrial Estate in Deal

A man has suffered a serious leg injury after a wall collapsed.

Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to Southwall Industrial Estate in Deal at 1.30pm yesterday.

It was reported to the paramedics that a lorry carrying metal and rubble had fallen on to the man. However police later confirmed that part of a building collapsed.

The 39-year-old man was treated at the scene before being taken to William Harvey Hospital by road ambulance.

Eye witnesses say three police cars, three ambulance cars, an ambulance and a fire engine joined the air ambulance at the scene.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a building site in Deal at 1.37pm on Monday to a report that part of a building had collapsed and a man sustained injuries during the incident.

"Officers are currently attending the scene in Southwall Industrial Estate in Deal, along with crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

"HSE are aware."

A ambulance spokesman said: "The air ambulance joined us at the scene.

"The patient suffered a leg injury and was treated at the scene and is now en route to William Harvey Hospital by road ambulance."

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We have been called to assist SECamb following some fallen masonry."
