Latest Dover district planning applications include new eco-friendly heating system and holiday let

Several fresh planning applications have been submitted to Dover District Council - including for an environmentally-friendly heating system.

Proposals have been submitted to install a 180kw woodchip biomass boiler at Wingham Country Market in Roman Road.

The scheme will be housed inside a new building, which was approved last year.

Planning documents submitted by Treco Green Heat on behalf of applicant Sam Dyer state: “The biomass heating system will create a distinct heat network, where this remote plant room provides process heat to a log drying kiln.

“It also brings space heating for a polytunnel, for products that will be sold in the garden centre.”

Also in the village, a scheme has been lodged to convert a residential storage space into a holiday let.

The flat roof of the property in Preston Hill would be replaced by a new pitched design.

Documents add that the existing dog grooming business will be closed if the application is successful.

In Eastry, a new scheme will see a holiday let converted into an office.

Permission was previously granted to convert the property in the high street into a holiday spot, but planning documents say it ultimately proved financially unviable to undertake the necessary internal alterations.

Most recently, the space has served as an office, meaning no works to the building are required as part of the application.

Plans have also been lodged to make a series of improvements at a property in Temple Ewell, near Dover.

It includes the erection of a front porch, garage and extension to an existing driveway.

The plans also include the infilling of side openings and replacement windows.

Meanwhile, in Studdal, an application has been submitted for a first-floor extension, along with a two-storey front and single-storey side additions.

The scheme would incorporate a new garage.

At The Strand in Walmer, proposals have been put forward for a single-storey infill extension, alter a porch and add a rear dormer window following the demolition of an existing rear extension.

Meanwhile, in Whitfield, permission is sought for a single-storey side extension and alterations to a ground-floor window and door.

In Sandwich, a scheme has been submitted to fell a gum tree within a conservation area.
