Parking charges introduced at Sandwich Railway Station

Today sees the introduction of parking charges at five more Kent train stations including Sandwich.

Southeastern is asking passengers to now pay £4 a day or £755.20 a year to park their car when it was previously free.

The change has also been implemented at Martin Mill, Bekesbourne, East Farleigh and Kearsney stations.

A Southeastern spokesman said: “We have introduced charging for some car parks from January 2018 after assessing the local demand for limited parking space, at the same time ensuring that they are competitive with other local parking facilities.

"Income from car parks is reinvested in improvements to facilities for passengers.”

Passengers can pay to park using the Indigo parking app.

Today also sees a 3.6% rise in fares for commuters and passengers who use the rail services in Kent.
