A total 37 objections were sent to Dover District Council's planning committee.

Neighbours said the site was outside the development area for Deal and this will result in the gap between Deal and Sholden being lost.

They explained that development here would lead to a greater risk of an adjacent field eventually being built on.

The also said the site was too small, so this would be an overdevelopment.

They added that this would mean a loss of open space and danger from more traffic, particularly a safety risk for children using a nearby play park.

But there were also seven representations of support from locals.

These people said this was a modest increase in housing on what had already been built and there would be little effect on the local area.

They also believed that surrounding roads could cope.

This is an outline application for two to four bedroomed homes, detached and semi-detached.

Council officers have recommended approval of the scheme and it will be discussed by the planning committee from 6pm tomorrow.
