Queen's Birthday Honours for local people

Several people from Dover, Deal and Sandwich have received awards in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

OBEs have been awarded to Dr Annette Doherty (pictured), senior vice-president of Pfizer Global Research and Development at Sandwich, for services to the pharmaceutical industry, and Annie Ledger, chief executive of Migrant Helpline, for services to asylum seekers and refugees.

MBEs go to Elizabeth Cole for services to the community in Deal and Walmer, former Dover Grammar School girl Melissa Hackney, who is the press office manager for Merseyside Police. for services to the police, and Richard Laslett, from Sandwich, for voluntary service to sport and young people in the communities of Canterbury and Eastry.
