Sandwich Festival has been hailed as a great success, with plans already being made for next year’s event.

Annual favourites such as the Motorcycle Meet on Sunday were well attended and enhanced by the Italian market in Market Street, together with nine hours of music on the Quay Green.

On Bank Holiday Monday the Quay Green was popular with visitors wandering around the stalls and seeing the classic cars, many spending a “quid a quack” on the annual Rotary Club Duck Race and enjoying the cafe culture street concert featuring musicians on Sandwich Guildhall Forecourt.

Next year will see the 20th anniversary of the first Sandwich Festival in 1994 so there are plans to make it bigger and better than ever.

Sandwich Festival Association committee meets at The Red Cow, Moat Sole, on Monday, September 23, to evaluate the 2013 Sandwich Festival and begin planning for 2014. Input from the public and local businesses is welcomed.

Mark Moorhouse, chairman of the Sandwich Festival Association, said: “We wish to thank all those who contributed towards the events held in Sandwich during the Bank Holiday Weekend.”
