Trespasser on train tracks at Walmer causes delays between Ramsgate and Dover

A trespasser has been brought to safety after he strayed onto tracks, disrupting train services.

Electrical power was switched off between Dover and Ramsgate for almost an hour while staff coaxed a man off of the line.

The incident brought the 7.22am train from St Pancras to Ramsgate to a standstill.

Southeastern says trains will be back on the move shortly although services may still be delayed, revised or cancelled.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "BTP were called to Walmer station at 9.38am this morning following concerns for the welfare of a man on the tracks.

"Officers attended alongside colleagues from Kent Police, and the man was taken to a place of safety."
