The Apprentice firing: Jonny Heaver of Deal booted out by Lord Sugar after Turkey episode of BBC show

Kent’s candidate on this year’s series of The Apprentice has been fired from the show.

Lord Alan Sugar last night picked off Jonathan “Jonny” Heaver, from Deal, in week six of the popular long-running BBC series.

Mr Heaver, 23, had not been team leader, or even sub-team leader, in any of the tasks as the current series reached its halfway stage this week.

Lord Sugar, pointing the dreaded finger, and told him: "Jonny, I've not seen much from you, you're fired."

The business magnate accused Jonny, who runs a tutoring company, of being too low profile throughout his time in the process.

He had been in the six-person team Parallel, which bombed out in this week's task - organising corporate hospitality outings in Turkey.

While rivals Ascendancy made a profit of €1,580 (£1,325), Parallel coined in a measly €470 (£394) despite a potential profit of €2,070 (£1,739) due to customers demanding refunds.

Parallel's ill-fated efforts came after making several blunders while entertaining a group from Vodafone celebrating the company's 40th anniversary.

No alcohol was provided for the workers until a couple of bottles of white wine at the last minute, which had to be hastily chilled.

Jonny was the tour guide when the staff members were taken on 4x4 vehicles on a sightseeing tour but the workers became impatient and wanted the trip cut short.

Back in the boardroom, Lord Sugar panned Jonny’s efforts, quipping: "Your tour chat was drier than your drinks cabinet."

A theme of the outing was team bonding and company members were asked to switch off their mobile phones so they could communicate better with each other.

Lord Sugar’s advisor Baroness Karren Brady remarked that Parallel was treating the task like a school field trip.

The most toe-curling moment was when workers were asked to split into pairs to stare at each other as a team building exercise.

Jonny had to take the ritual walk of defeat to the black taxi as he left the process.

But while driven away he said: "It's been a fantastic experience, I leave with my head up."

Jonny grew up in Deal and was first educated at Deal Parochial School, then to Canterbury Steiner School for four years and joined Dover College when he was 14.

He graduated from Liverpool University and is still based in the city running his business called Achiever Tutoring.

Last weekend, he revealed what had caused his facial scars after viewers asked what caused them.

He told viewers on in a TikTok video it was a result of surgery to remove a large birthmark.

It was feared it could become cancerous and had to be removed and the operation affected his eye, causing it to droop down, and also causes him problems such as ingrown eyelashes.

He has had skin grafts and tissue expansion, to make his eye a better shape but he still has pain.

Now 12 candidates are left in the business-styled show and the prize is a £250,000 investment and a 50/50 partnership with Lord Sugar.

The show was first broadcast in February 2005 and this is the 19th series.
