NEIL RENAULT, the Medway and Maidstone junior athlete, added to his growing reputation with victory in a personal best time in the Deal 5 road race.

Renault, coached by fifth placed James McNeill, was quickly into his stride at the front alongside the experienced John Creane, of South Kent Harriers.

These two soon pulled clear, before Renault found another gear to pull 19 seconds clear of Creane to win in 25.26.

The women's race was won by Ashford AC's Helen Wheeler, from Folkestone, who led from gun to tape.

It was Wheeler’s second successive triumph in the race clocking a fine 29:59 to hold off W45 veteran Janice Moorekite of Invicta East Kent with 30:44.
