A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a woman in her 50s was stabbed with a large kitchen knife in a town centre.
The attack happened at about 10.10pm on Friday (January 17) in Biggin Street, Dover, leaving the victim with injuries to her back.
It was reported that the victim, aged in her 50s, was attacked with the weapon by a stranger as she was walking along the road.
Security staff at a nearby pub intervened and managed to disarm and restrain the attacker until police arrived.
On Saturday, Natasza Zakrzewska, of Salisbury Road, Dover, was charged with attempted murder and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place.
Ms Zakrzewska, 47, was remanded in custody to appear at an initial hearing before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 20.
The victim suffered injuries to her back and was taken to hospital, although she has now been discharged.
Det Ch Insp Bev Morrison said: “This was a horrific incident and our thoughts remain with the victim who thankfully suffered no serious harm.
“I would like to commend the courageous actions of those who bravely intervened, and who without hesitation and no thoughts for their own safety put themselves at risk.”
