A new baking business has ‘gone viral’ just weeks after opening, even attracting support from brand Betty Crocker.

Katie Lester set up her business ‘Katie’s Big Bakes’ in April and offers the UK’s biggest single serve cookie.

The treat weighs 240 grams, which is over half a pound and 10 times the size of a single portion of Maryland cookies (which is two cookies), and cost between £16 and £33 for a box of four.

But they are proving so popular all Katie's products are currently sold out.

Each week, Mrs Lester sells out her stock within two days, and one of her TikTok videos has received 1.9 million views.

“It’s been really crazy to be honest,” the Whitfield resident said.

“Someone said you should go on the Great British Bake Off and that really inspired me to start my own business and sell my cookies.”

Mrs Lester was left ‘always wanting more’ after baking for fun at the weekends so she decided to bake a bigger cookie.

“My cookies weigh 240 grams, and they are stuffed with chocolate fillings,” she said.

“I had worried that it wouldn’t do well, especially with the cost of living getting worse but it’s actually going really well.

“If you don’t try, you never know. You have to follow your dreams.”

After launching the business from her kitchen, Mrs Lester would then share her creations on social media.

She said: “TikTok has been wild. A video of me pouring chocolate on one of my cookies has got 1.9 million views.

“I nearly had a heart attack when I saw Betty Crocker had commented on my post.”

The post from the official Betty Crocker account reads: “omg yesss please!”

The 31-year-old has always had a passion for baking and says she has fond memories of baking with her grandmother.

She added that she’d always bake around her previous job working in the HR department of Dover District council.

The business has been going from strength to strength and demand has been incredibly high.

Mrs Lester said: “I had to stay up baking all night last week.

“I’ve had people all over the UK order from me which has been absolutely amazing but slightly crazy.”
