Pictures show moments Sinead and Louise Shepherd rescued sheep from busy Lydden Hill Road off the A2

Here is the moment that quick thinking sisters sprang into action to save escaped sheep from being knocked over.

Louise and Sinead Shepherd were driving back from a dog walk along Lydden Hill, near Dover, when they saw the animals in the road.

When they realised it was in danger Louise pulled over and Sinead risked her own safety to move it out of harm's way.

Heavily pregnant Louise, who moved the car to alert oncoming traffic of the hazard started picturing her sister's heroics.

She said: "Luckily the roads where quiet enough for my sister to jump out and run straight over to help while I turned the car around to pull over somewhere safe and help too.

"My sister had already got two of the sheep back over the barriers and down a bank before I started filming, but one tried to carry on down the busy road.

"We managed to get it to go down the path of the quieter Wickham Bushes Road.

"She was quite shook up after but glad she got there in time to help..."

"A few seconds later traffic flew past, just missing me and my sister.

"My sister jumped out of the way and was quite shook up after but glad she got there in time to help.

"Had it been a few seconds before when the sheep were still in the road I dread to think what could have happened."

It happened last Wednesday and the pair have since returned and saw the sheep had been moved to a more secure field next door to where the three had originally escaped.

Escaped animals, unusual finds and news from the RSPCA can all be found here.
