Brexit countdown beamed on White Cliffs of Dover by Wagestream

It's final countdown! Well, maybe.

Wagestream will project a figure on each of our last days in the European Union until the present leaving date, Thursday, October 31.

But it is allowing for another delay in the departure as the political turbulence and wrangling over the issue drags on.

The original leaving date of March 29, set in stone for two years, is long past.

A Wagestream spokesman said: "We will project the beam every day until October 31, unless the date is changed.

"If there is a new date then we will look at the situation again."

The figure, today counting 20 days until Brexit, is being shone on the western cliffs at Aycliffe.

It is beamed on by a projector and the plan is from now on to show it for two hours after 7pm every day, weather permitting.

Wagestream provides a service letting workers get their money as they earn it rather than having to wait until payday at the end of the month.

It has an income streaming app to help people avoid getting into debt through unplanned costs mid-month.

Employers already using the service include the pest controllers Rentokil Initial and Hackney Council in London.
