Pair to go on trial accused of murdering homeless man in Dover graveyard

Two people are to go on trial on March 30 next year accused of murdering a homeless man in a Dover graveyard.

Claire Lunn, 47, and Justin Burnett, 37, have both pleaded not guilty to killing Piotr Lacheta, 55, from Poland.

The defendants, who have no fixed address, appeared in the dock at Maidstone Crown Court today to enter their pleas.

Eloise Marshall QC, will be leading for the prosecution in the trial, which is expected to take up to a month.

Judge Philip Statman remanded Lunn and Burnett into custody until the next hearing.

Mr Lacheta died at the scene in Cowgate Cemetery, Albany Place, Dover, last month.

A Crowdfunding campaign was set up to help pay for repatriation of his body to Poland for a family burial.
