Jack Goddard, 22, of Elliott Way, Sholden near Deal, in court accused of stealing eight charity boxes in Dover

A man has been charged with stealing charity collection boxes from a number of businesses.

Jack Goddard, 22, is due in court today.

Goddard, of Elliott Way, Sholden, is accused of taking donations for eight charities and good causes from seven places on Dover.

The thefts are alleged to have happened at Dover Sea Angling Club in Priory Road on August 28 and the Park Inn in Park Place and Dover Marina Hotel in Waterloo Crescent, both on September 2.

Alleged thefts also took place at The Old Endeavour pub in London Road on September 4 and Dover Marina Hotel and The Dewdrop pub in Tower Hamlets Street, both on September 5.

The other charges relate to cases at The Three Cups in Crabble Hill on September 8 and the White Horse in St James Street two days later.

Goddard has also been charged with four other thefts where goods were reported stolen from Asda in Charlton Green and Boots in Biggin Street between August 1 and September 2.

Goddard, placed in custody, was due to appear at Medway Magistrates Court today to face all 12 charges.
