Crash and fuel spill shut Alkham Road in Kearsney, near Dover, in both directions

A crash shut a busy route in both directions after one of the vehicles involved suffered a fuel leak.

The collision happened on Alkham Road in Kearsney, near Dover, yesterday evening (Saturday).

Witnesses on social media said police and fire crews are in the area.

Traffic information site Inrix also stated the route was shut both ways from the junction with Abbey Road to where it meets Alkham Valley Road.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called shortly before 7.30pm to help with a fuel leak from a car.

The spokesman added: “Crews assisted Kent Police with scene safety.”

They left the scene at 7.47pm.
