Commuters facing delays as ice stops trains on Dover to Faversham line

Commuters hoping to travel between Dover and Faversham are facing delays due to an immobilised train.

Ice is preventing a Southeastern train to take on power, leaving it stuck at Kearnsey station.

Trains on the line are powered via a single live track, and this connection can be damaged or stopped by a heavy build-up of ice.

In a tweet, Southeastern confirmed that they are aware of the issue.

Network Rail response staff are on the way to the scene to de-ice the line, and a rescue train is being arrange to provide power to the immobilised engine.

It is not yet clear how long this will take.

More as we get it.
