Library to reopen at Dover Discovery Centre and browsing at Deal is expected to follow

Dover library is among the latest to reopen in Kent from today, Monday, August 24.

The Dover Discovery Centre facility in Market Square is among 12 to become the first to offer a socially-distanced book browsing service for customers so they can select books from the shelves.

In the meantime, KCC has also re-opened the archive search room at the Kent History and Library Centre in Maidstone.

Additional safety measures in each library will include hand sanitizer stations, one-way circulation routes through the building, use of the self-service machines, and face coverings being mandatory.

The first 12 libraries that opened across Kent in July will continue to offer a “select and collect” service for the time being.

The facility in Broad Street, Deal, was among these.

Sandwich Library remains closed and members are directed to the click and collect services at Deal.

Browsing is likely to be introduced in the coming weeks.
