Dover: House fire in Castle Hill Road

A period property was left severely damaged after a blaze.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called the the blaze at Castle Hill Road, Dover, at 10am on Sunday.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene and crews wearing breathing apparatus took on the flames using a hosereel and main jet.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "The property suffered extensive fire and smoke damage throughout, but the kitchen was completely destroyed in the blaze.

" There were no reported casualties."

The cause of the fire is thought to have been accidental and believed to have been due to an electrical fault in a boiler cupboard.

Firefighters were at the scene for two-and-a-half hours.

Kent Police also attended.

The house is a three-storey mid-terraced one.
