Firefighters called to rescue stuck cow in Dover

Emergency services had to be called after a cow became stuck in a moat.

Fire crews attended the scene this afternoon after the heifer fell into a dry moat around a house in Dover.

Crews including a specialist rope rescue team from Deal were sent to investigate the bizarre call.

The cow was found lying in the dry moat, which surrounded an unoccupied house near to the corner of Maxton Road and Mount Road.

The bovine casualty was checked for injuries before being lifted back to ground level, and handed over to the White Cliffs Rangers.

Fire crews finished their operation at just before 5.30pm.
