Burst water pipe in Wingham High Street results in temporary traffic lights being put up

A high street that was closed after a water pipe burst is to reopen tomorrow (Wednesday).

Southern Water has a team carrying out repair work in Wingham High Street after the pipe burst at 5.41pm yesterday.

The A257 was shut in both directions but it is understood temporary traffic lights were put in.

A spokesman for the company now said: "The road will be closed today (Tuesday) and will reopen tomorrow as quite a larger area had to be dug."

The spokesma also said: "We’re working as quickly as possible to resolve this issue and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."
