Plans have been revealed for a jewellery brand to move into a former phone shop.
Bosses at Warren James Jewellers have applied to move into the vacant unit at the St James shopping centre in Dover.
The shop, sandwiched between Greggs and Card Factory, was previously occupied by O2.
Two applications have been submitted to Dover District Council for the bid, one for new signs and one for changes to the shop front.
Bosses say, if all is approved, five full-time and five part-time members of staff could take up positions at the new shop.
Warren James is based in Stockport and has traded over the last four decades.
It now has 215 stores in the UK, including five in Kent, at County Square in Ashford, St Georges Street in Canterbury, plus in Dartford, Gillingham and Maidstone.
St James, found along the A20 and close to the Port of Dover, is also home to Next, JD Sports, Costa, M&S Foodhall, Poundland, Superdrug and more.
It also hosts Cineworld, Travelodge and several restaurants including Nando’s and Kaspa’s.
The site opened in 2018 at a cost of £53 million.
At the time, it was feared the shopping centre would kill off the nearby high street, and hundreds signed a petition against the opening.
Warren James has been contacted for any further comment.
