A tweet from the Dover ferry company this morning said: "We're sorry to say there are currently delays on some of our sailings up to 90 mins due to the knock on effect from industrial action yesterday and poor weather overnight."

There is a mass of strikes in France, continuing today, including among rail workers.

This follows pension reforms planned by the government there.

Train services between Britain and France, such as Eurostar, have also been affected.

Rain and strong winds are continuing in the Dover area late into this morning.

Euotunnel today wanted to stress that its shuttle service was not affected.
