Man from Deal arrested after attempted burglary at Old Charlton Road, Dover

A man who claimed to be a policeman has been arrested in connection with an attempted burglary.

Officers were called after a resident reported hearing noises from outside her home.

She saw the man attempting to break in and when challenged, he claimed to be a member of the police before he ran away.

A Kent Police spokesman explained: "On Saturday, February 2, between 3am and 6am, a resident in Old Charlton Road, Dover, reported hearing noises coming from the outside of her property.

"She told police she then saw a man attempting to break in and challenged the suspect.

"At first he claimed to be police but then ran away from the house."

Last Friday officers arrested a 45-year-old man from Deal on suspicion of attempted burglary.

He has been released pending further investigation.
