Man dies in crash on A2 approach to Port of Dover

A lorry driver has died following a crash in Dover.

The incident happened on the A2 at the Whitfield roundabout at around 10.25am yesterday and led to the closure of the road in both directions between the A260 at Lydden Hill and the A256.

The three lorries were travelling in the same direction on the coastbound carriageway, from Lydden Hill approaching the Whitfield roundabout, when the collision took place.

The driver of one of the lorries, a man in his 60s from Estonia, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service were all sent to the scene.

The A2 remain closed in both directions to least until about 8pm and by 8.40pm both carriageways were fully reopened, after officers carried out inquiries.
