Dover man accused of having sex with girl 10 years younger than him in Teynham and online sex talk with paedophile hunter

A-23-year-old man - living in the Dover area- met a school girl 10 years his junior for sex after befriending her on Facebook, it has been alleged.

Dean Luckhurst arranged a rendezvous at Teynham rail station, walked to a wooded area and after smoking cannabis, had sexual intercourse, a jury has been told.

Luckhurst, of no fixed address, has denied four child sex charges which are alleged to have happened in February and March this year.

Prosecutor Vivian Walters told Maidstone Crown Court that the schoolgirl later spoke to an older friend who knew Luckhurst and the police were alerted.

She added: "The day before he was arrested, and true to form, he was online again speaking to what he thought was another underage girl.

"In fact, this time he was speaking to an adult pretending to be 13 years old and they engaged in sex chat."

Luckhurst is alleged to have sent the person, he believed was a child, a video clip of him performing a sex act on himself.

"Luckhurst's questions became increasingly sexual and he repeatedly asked her for naked pictures..." prosecutor Vivian Walters

After his arrest, a "self-styled" paedophile hunter called Sarah Purser, who belongs to a group calling themselves "Innocent Voices", then reported her chat to police, the court heard.

Ms Walters said: "Ms Purser goes online posing as a 13-year-old girl called Megan Moore, who has a profile on Facebook.

"Any profile photos are of people now over 18 who have given permission for photos of their younger selves to be used.

"Megan Moore' sits waiting on Facebook until people send her a Facebook friend request. She never speaks unless spoken to, " she added.

In April, Luckhurst is alleged to have sent 'Megan' a friend request on Facebook which was accepted.

He then sent a message saying: “I added you randomly. I hope you don’t mind.”

"Megan" responded with “Hi ya” and said she was 13 and he said he was 10 years older.

"He sent her three pictures and asked if she wanted to play a game with a list of questions called ‘Pick a Number’," she claimed.

Ms Walters claimed that Luckhurst's questions became increasingly sexual and he repeatedly asked her for naked pictures or pictures of her in underwear.

The court heard how on April 5 police officers saw Luckhurst in Ramsgate and arrested him.

He gave a prepared statement through his solicitor saying he believed the schoolgirl to be 16 or 17 years.

Luckhurst also denies being the person who sent the sex messages to "Megan".

The trial continues.
