Arrest after man suffers head injuries in assault, London Road, Dover

A man was taken to hospital with a head injury after being attacked in the street early today.

He was hurt outside the Eagle Tavern in London Road, Dover, just after midnight.

A police spokesman told Kent Online today: "Kent Police were called at 12.10am following a report of an altercation in London Road.

"Officers attended and it was reported that two men had been assaulted by another man following an argument."

Police added that a 24-year-old man from Dover was later arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "Ambulance crews attended and one person was assessed and treated for a head injury before being taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford."

Eyewitnesses say police had been at the scene until around 10am today. The Eagle is listed as closed by 11pm.
