KFC customer claims to find fly eggs in meal from Whitfield, Dover, restaurant

Environmental health officers have investigated a KFC restaurant after a customer claimed to have found fly eggs in his meal.

Daniele Gatti, a software developer who lives in Canterbury, tweeted he had visited the chicken chain's restaurant in Whitfield, Dover, with pictures showing a strange white substance in his meal.

He said: "Many thanks for ignoring @SaraGirelli82 's DM since 7am today, it's not like we found fly eggs in your lovely food from the Dover (Whitfield) restaurant after all."

Environmental health officers from Dover District Council have since responded, saying they were sorry to hear about Mr Gatti's experience.

However, they said hygiene standards in the restaurant are good and concluded it was an "isolated incident".

An email said: "Thank you for your email, I am sorry to hear of your experience.

"Your social media post was brought to our attention and officers have investigated this issue. No flying insects were found at the premises and hygiene standards were good.

"I can confirm that we have not received any similar complaints so I must conclude that this was an unfortunate, isolated incident.

"Thank you for your time and trouble in bringing this matter to our attention."

KFC has been approached for comment.
