Beach clean organised by Neil Hamilton of Dover Big Local will be followed by community picnic on the pebbles

A volunteer has organised a beach clean with a difference.

Neil Hamilton who helps out at Dover Big Local is hosting the community event at Shakespeare Beach today (Wednesday, August 21) and he wants people from towns like Deal and Sandwich to get involved too!

It will be from 10am until 2pm, with all equipment provided.

Where can you buy food without plastic wrapping in Kent?

But unlike other community clean ups, once the hard work is done, people's efforts will be rewarded with an afternoon of fun.

There will be a selection of games and the chance to socialise over a picnic lunch.

People are asked to bring their own food - and of course, to bring a bag to take their rubbish away!

This, and many other beach cleans, come at a time when more animals than ever are being affected by plastic in Kent.

For more information call Dover Big Local on 01301449385.

For those who can't attend, read about more up and coming beach cleans in the East Kent Mercury, Dover Mercury and Sandwich Mercury newspapers.
