A fire victim’s home was burgled after it was evacuated.
The Dover woman discovered the break-in when she returned to collect her belongings and found a bracelet had been taken.
She and other tenants had fled the block of flats, Conquerot House, in Crabble Hill after it burst into flames at Easter.
The landlords now say there have been other attempted burglaries at the deserted block.
Now police have confirmed details of the woman’s property being broken into and are appealing for the public’s help.
A spokesperson told KentOnline: “Kent Police is investigating a report that items including a bracelet have been stolen from a property in Crabble Hill, Dover, up to May 27.
“Officers investigating the theft would like to hear from anyone who has CCTV in this area including the surrounding roads, as the footage may assist the investigation.
A spokesman for landlords Town & Country Housing (TCH) said: “We are aware that there have been break-in attempts at the building, which have been reported to the police.
“We have had 24/7 security at the building since the fire and we have recently installed extra CCTV.
“We continue to support residents in the aftermath of the fire.
“Residents know they can contact us at any point, and we actively call all residents each week to check how they are.
“Our priority has always been to find residents suitable alternative accommodation until they can move back to Conqueror House, or a new permanent home.
“Despite the chronic shortage of available housing in and around Dover we are pleased to say that we are making good progresses in helping residents move to medium-term, or permanent, new homes.”
The evacuation involved 57 tenants.
TCH said that of the 37 affected households at Conqueror House, eight are staying with family and friends, nine have moved to the Coombe House and 20 are in hotels.
Seven in the hotels will be moving to a permanent new home, and one to a medium-term property.
One household staying with family will also go to a permanent home.
Alternative options continue to be sought for other displaced tenants,
TCH thanked Paramount Independent Property Services and Dover District Council, for helping find alternative accommodation.
Dover Working Men’s Club was also acknowledged for its role as a base for collecting and donating supplies.
The electric supply at Conqueror House was reinstated last week and TCH is now getting builders to carry out repairs.
Once they start it is hoped residents in the least damaged flats can return within two months.
It is not yet known when all the flats can be repaired.
Conqueror House caught fire on Easter Sunday, April 20.
At the blaze’s peak, 12 fire engines and a height vehicle were needed.
Crews were at the scene for more than 30 hours putting out the flames and damping down.
Firefighters in early May confirmed that the blaze had started in a bin store but the cause was then still unknown.
A fundraising page had provided £3,555 for victims by today (Tuesday).
